Supporting MOTHERS on their business journey after experiencing pregnancy or maternity discrimination
1 in 5 women leave their employer as a result of pregnancy or maternity mistreatment, and a study by PregnantThenScrewed found that 74,000 women in the UK lose their jobs every year due to pregnancy or maternity leave.
No wonder more and more women are starting their own business ventures. In 2024 1.56 million women were self employed (an 8% rise since 2014), whilst men were experiencing a decrease in self-employment of around 12%
Despite diverse teams boosting productivity, and female-led companies typically outperforming their counterparts (average revenues of 10.4million for female-led, compared to 6.1million for male led), women continue to be sidelined even when starting their own business, with women receiving 1/6th of the investment that men receive.
According to a survey by Tide, one in 5 women considered starting a business in 2021, and it is estimated that mothers with children under the age of 18 generates around 9.5billion for the economy.
As many mothers begin their entrepreneurial journey during, or shortly after maternity leave has ended, many mothers have lost their sense of ability, have a reduced income and have significantly less time available as they navigate the complexities of business and babies. PINKTAPE is the no bullshit business consultancy, we know that women (in particular mothers) are busy, and we also know that they need that starting push to get going and thrive. The 100 Mothers Project is that push.
